Nick's Speech

Here is Nick's Best Man speech. It's a little bit of Donnie. It's a little bit of Carla. We loved it and thought it was hilarious. Thanks a million, Nick.

Wow, ah yeah..

As soon as I figure out how the flip video camera works- I will sneak up on Donnie and film him doing something he wouldn't want people to see. This won't be hard or take a long time. It should be instantaneous as soon as I figure out how the camera works.

Just In Case She Was Mad At The Last Post...

Just in case Carla is mad at me for the last post, which she probably is, here is a beautiful picture I took of her. Hopefully, it helps to soften the blow...there is still time for her to back out.

And here are some of my attempts at imitating my favorite artist, Andy Warhol.

Just A Preview Of The Reception

I thought I should warn everybody before the wedding. So, here is what you may see:

Trying Out The Flip Camera

First of all, get your mind out of the gutter. This is just a video that I created using the FlipShare software and our new camera. I thought it was funny. I hope you enjoy it.

Best. Day. Ever.

So my shower was awesome. If you couldn't be there, then I'm sorry, cause it was probably in the top 3 out of the greatest days of my life. I'm so thankful to have gotten so many wonderful gifts!!! So now, I have to cook, clean, and bake since I got all new stuff.

You have to understand that a lot of the things we had up until this point were other people's old things that they didn't want anymore, so getting things that we actually picked out and are brand new is so wonderful. It's all really quite overwhelming. I never imagined that I would have a shower let alone have one that was so awesome. Trust me, showers usually suck. I have sat through many. I may have a whole new attitude about showers now though. Regardless, I am so grateful that the people in my life love me enough to do all of this for me.

I'm gonna try to post some pics this week, I finally got to meet my new cousin Jake so I wanna get some of those pics up here too.

June!?

So time is flying!! Baseball is in full swing and poor Zion's arm is in a cast. He is being such a good sport about it though- carrying out his duty as bat boy. Donnie's xbox is getting repaired so it has been a hard summer for him as well. We are estimating at least another 2 weeks before it comes back from xbox headquarters in Texas. Needless to say, checkers on the back porch has become highly competitive. I recently became the PTG vice president at Holy Redeemer school where Zion will attend kindergarten in the fall. This will probably take up a lot of my "free" time. Noah is going to a new school (public) this year, so keep your fingers crossed for him...and for me, not sure if I'll be able to be on 2 parent teacher committees. There has been so much change for our kids this year!! It's unbelievable that we are keeping it all together! My shower is coming up this weekend and I'm really looking foreward to it. Maybe I'll post some pics...ya never know.

Wedding update

Just thought I would let you know, we did block rooms off at the Comfort Inn in New Castle for the night of our wedding. We added the link for their website on the lower right portion of the screen. I believe you need to book by July 1, 2009 and mention our wedding to get the room at a discounted rate. There are also links there for the Church and The New Englander for those of you who are out of town and aren't sure of the locations. The shower is this coming Saturday and we are getting really excited. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful families and friends!!! If you have any questions or need directions, please feel free to email us at www.donnieandcarla@gmail.com

xoxo,
Carla

This Is Why She Really Wants A Peekaru

I mean...does this REALLY surprise anyone?

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Maybe I was just being lazy...

This is not a Snuggie. It is actually called a Peekaru. It's all the rage in India. Just kidding, but I want one. As long as it doesn't end up like this...

Everyone NEEDS a Snuggie

So my registry is pretty much complete. The only thing missing is a Snuggie. I have not yet found it at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, or Macy's. So if anyone reading this would like to buy me one, that is quite all right with me. I also may be interested in the new Snuggie that has a pouch for babies. Obviously I won't try to fit Noah or Zion into it, that would be weird. Just sayin....

Spring has Sprung!

Just a few updates...

Soccer and baseball are going to start soon. I'm really excited about soccer this year. The boys will be playing on the same team and Donnie is coaching. I have dutifully offered to be the assistant coach but Donnie insists on holding out for Mike Ditka. We are all keeping our fingers crossed.

We are doing a benefit for the public library next Saturday called "Touch a truck" where children are able to see the inside of fire trucks, ambulances, construction vehicles, etc. Zion is extremely enthusiastic about this event. Hopefully I will get some pics of that.

About the wedding...
All the plans seem to be going smoothly. I haven't had any major melt downs lately. Life is good.

Backfat: Pandemic in Modern Brides

So on Tuesday I decided that I've had it with myself. Sick and tired of being sick and tired. Went to the Hot Dog Shop. Had my last hurah and then went directly to Weight Watchers. So best case scenario- I lose 20 lbs and look really awesome and hot in my wedding gown. Worse case, I lose 20 lbs, gain 35 of it back in a week in Jamaica and suffer a massive heart attack. Either way, I'm still feeling pretty good right now. Ok, ok some of you readers are saying, Carla what's wrong with you, you already look awsome and hot in that gown, but hey, I'm a woman. Oprah has a bazillion dollars and she isn't even comfortable with her weight. It's a woman's perogative. Well, I'll probably look better than her.

This has absolutely nothing to do with my wedding

Photobucket
Went to Chrissy's 30th birthday party this weekend. Hopefully Donnie won't edit this blog, as I have caught him doing this in the past. Yeah, kind of annoying...like me in this picture.

He Went To Helen

So, this past Saturday I went to Helen's Tuxedo, a cute little old lady's tuxedo rental in Ellwood City. Helen has been around FOREVER! She may have even done my dad's tuxedo for his wedding. Anyway, I wanted to go with a classic look. So, I chose a white jacket with black pants. Blah, blah, blah. That's not the big news of the weekend. The big news is that I found the PERFECT gift for my groomsmen. The contents of that gift will not be disclosed. You will have to wait until the big day to see what the gift was as the guys will be wearing them to the reception...that is, if Carla allows. Here's a sneak preview:

God triple dog dared me

On August first, Donnie and I will be receiving the sacrament of marriage. I really don't want to lose sight of the importance of the ceremony amidst all the preparation for the reception. The ceremony is the most important part of the day. Father Carmen recently talked to us about being called. We are called by God to become one. When I think of other married couples, I try to see what it is that makes them happy, what makes it work. It is very hard to compare us to other couples. For some reason, I do it all the time. I need to stop doing that. We have a unique situation. It seems that God called Donnie and I not only to be married to each other, but to form a family for our children. I really don't feel like we were called to do that. We were challenged. No one said it would be easy, that's fine by me. I love those kids more than anything in the world. I will never give up on them or our family. So, to that I say, bring it. I'm ready for anything.

Now you know I couldn't let her have all the fun.

Of course I have not picked out my tux yet. So, I'm leaving it up to you. Please select the tux that you think I should wear...not the tux you think Carla will let me wear.

You should be working right now...

But you are reading this instead- so take some time to look at the following dresses and let me know what you think. Now remember, champagne punch is the only thing that appeases Bridezilla, so keep it coming and I won't make my dear bridesmaids wear something hideous. Kindly vote on the right hand side. If you know me, then the choice is obvious.

About Bollywood...

She was only kidding about the Bollywood dancers.

Donnie and Carla go Bollywood!

Recently, Donnie and I saw a movie called Slumdog Millionaire. Maybe you have heard of it. This is probably one of the best movies ever. It has everything. It made me laugh, cry; there was drama, romance, action, and adventure. I probably should have prefaced this with the fact that I LOVE everything Indian. Except Sanjaya (American Idol season 7) but we won't get into that. I know, you are thinking, Carla- this is a wedding blog, why are you giving us movie reviews? Well here is the answer- I WANT BOLLYWOOD DANCERS AT MY WEDDING. So if you are reading this and you know someone or possibly have some way of making this happen, call me. I have also included some links that may be helpful to you if you are planning to attend my wedding. They are on the bottom right.

I know, 2 posts in 1 day...We are gettin crazy...

If you would like a sampling of SOME of the entertainment for our wedding reception, go to www.jamie-wright.com and take a listen. I have a feeling you won't be disappointed. I LOVE wedding singers and you should too. Donnie took me to Siba on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday and we got to experience this live. I know, its ok to be jealous.

January 21, 2009

Some stuff has happened since Christmas and I thought I would keep you up to date. We met with our photographer, Cory Morton to finalize the contract. Cory doesn't usually do weddings, but he's doing us a huge favor. He's a very talented photographer. Check out his photos at www.corymortonphoto.com. We also met with Fr. Carmen on Monday for "class" to continue toward the sacrament of marriage. Yesterday, we had our food tasting at the New Englander. We tasted some things we liked and some we didn't...not a big fan of their red sauce. So, don't expect pasta and meatballs. We will have pasta (I mean, we are Italian)...just not with the red sauce. It's good to get back into the swing of things and move ahead with the wedding plans. We kind of got out of it over the holidays. We are both very excited for our big day and couldn't be more in love. Until next time, this is all I have for you.

Here we go Steelers! I hope we crush the Arizona (former) Steelers.

*Today is my birthday! Carla's birthday was the 19th.

Christmas '08

Ah yes, my dining room... Well, I used to call it that. Now that Christmas happened, we are lucky to have a pathway into the kitchen!! Noah and Zion are two of the most fortunate children I know. I have to say, this is the happiest Christmas I can remember, for me that is. I'm sure it is for Noah too. Despite getting a ton of presents, he is getting a dad and a little brother. Every year since he could talk he asked Santa for a dad. His wishes are finally coming true! I just hope that I can make Zion and Donnie as happy as they make us.
